Big news for everyone with an iPhone, MacBook, AirPods, or that one cousin who thinks he's better than everyone because he has an iPhone. Tim Cook is leaving Apple. Yes, the man who has been selling you the same phone with one extra camera every September for 15 years is retiring.

On September 1st of this year, Tim Cook will hand over Apple to a guy named John Ternus. Don't worry if you've never heard the name. His own mother probably hasn't seen him on Instagram, because this man doesn't even have a Twitter account. In a world where every tech CEO tweets three times before breakfast, Ternus just works. Imagine that. A Silicon Valley executive with no drama. Sounds like science fiction.

Ternus is 51, has been at Apple for 25 years, and his first job there was counting scratches on the head of a screw with a magnifying glass, in the middle of the night, at a supplier. Yes, my friends, while we complain that the boss wants our weekly report, this man built a career arguing with people about screws.

But humor aside for a second. Ternus has led the teams behind AirPods, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, and the new MacBook Neo. So if you have AirPods in your ears right now listening to Top Tech, thank him.

Tim Cook? He stays on as executive chairman.
