Meta Waddle World Is a Tamagotchi That Reads Your Diary

Meta's new Waddle World, a free AI pet app that turns voice notes into diary entries, was spotted in the Philippines on iOS and Android on October 27, 2026.

Remember the Tamagotchi? The little egg-shaped pet that died because you forgot it in your backpack for one weekend. Meta just brought it back. With AI. And this one wants to hear about your day.

Meta has launched Waddle World, a free AI pet app, in the Philippines on iOS and Android. Social media consultant Matt Navarra spotted it on October 27, 2026, and Meta hasn't said if or when it's coming to other countries.

The idea is simple. You hatch a pixel pet in a cozy 16-bit world, feed it, play two-minute mini-games with it (catching stars, stacking groceries) and drop by whenever you feel like it.

But there's a twist. The pet is also your diary.

You hold the mic and tell it how your day went. The pet listens, then writes it up as a journal entry in its own voice, with a little hand-drawn doodle. Once a week, it even mails you a postcard about something you told it.

So your pet remembers that your boss ruined your Tuesday. Your group chat forgot by Wednesday.

Meta is very clear about what Waddle World is not. Its App Store page says "Not a chatbot. Not an assistant." The app is rated 17+ and promises no streaks to protect and no scores to chase.

That careful wording makes sense. Character.AI and OpenAI are both facing lawsuits claiming their AI companions harmed teenagers. So Meta built a companion and politely called it a pet.

Honestly, I like the design. No guilt, no streaks, no notification yelling at you at midnight. That's kinder than most of the apps on your home screen.

But careful: this is Meta, a company that makes its money by knowing what you like. The listing says your pet "notices what your weeks look like, what lifts you, what wears you out." Meta hasn't explained what happens to all those diary entries. And according to reports, the app could be a test run for a Tamagotchi-style Meta gadget.

For now it's a small experiment in one country. Meta has been trying softer ideas lately, like Instagram Instants, and this is the cutest one yet.

A cute pet that remembers your feelings is lovely. A cute pet owned by an ad company is a different animal.
